Uganda is on the brink of a milestone in mineral beneficiation as it prepares to open its first tin processing plant next month. The facility, owned by Woodcross Resources, is located in southwestern Uganda and will refine locally sourced tin ore to 99.9% purity. With a projected annual capacity of 1,000 tonnes, the refinery marks a critical shift toward domestic value addition. Government officials say the plant will not only reduce Uganda’s reliance on foreign processors but also create new employment and revenue channels within the country.
